Essential modules for your PrestaShop online store
To have the perfect online store adapted to your needs, you need a number of modules that are essential. I have chosen the modules that I think should not be missing in your online store for several criteria, which I will explain in each of the modules.
Of course, as you know, we have a great variety of modules for PrestaShop in our catalog and, if you need one in particular, you can contact us to develop what you need.
PrestaShop GDPR module
Let’s start with the must-have of the must-haves. On May 25, 2018, the new European Data Protection Regulation came into force, also called GDPR or RGPD, depending on whether you order the acronyms in English or Spanish.
This regulation replaces the LOPD making the protection of user data stricter. In this post we tell you in more detail what it consists of: How GDPR will affect you: the new Data Protection Law
This module will make your online store comply with the technical part of the GDPR, making the forms have a checkbox for your customers to accept the privacy conditions of your online store.
You will also make your customers have the possibility to exercise the “right to be forgotten”, that is, to request the deletion of their personal data from your database.
Redsys Virtual POS
Another must-have for your online store. Surely among the payment methods of your online store is or want to be the card payment. Well, the Redsys card payment module adds this option by integrating it into your online store easily.
It works great. It is easily configurable with the data provided by the bank.
Once installed and configured you will be able to accept payment with Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express and many more debit and credit cards, being compatible with the new SHA256 signature.
In short, another of the essential modules that can not miss in your online store.
Returns Module
If you offer material goods in your online store, this module cannot be missing in your list. In addition to offering the possibility for the customer to return a product for any reason, your online store will comply with the Consumer Protection Act.
This module will make available to your customers an easily identified return form in which they can request the return of a product without the obligation to give any reason.
You will only have to fill in some minimum data to be able to request the return of your order.
Electronic Invoice
Another module that is essential if we want to comply with current legislation in our online store. To comply with the Law of Electronic Commerce is necessary to give the customer the option to choose whether to invoice in PDF only or printed invoice in the package.
With this module you will add the option to your customer to choose if he wants an electronic invoice or, on the contrary, he wants to receive the invoice on paper.
If the customer has decided that he only wants the PDF, the option to send the invoice by email will appear in the backoffice.
On the other hand, if he has selected not to receive an electronic invoice, this option will disappear and a warning will appear to send the paper invoice with the order.
Modules to make your online store perfect
Well, we already have the essential modules that can not miss in an online store, especially if we want to comply with the law and avoid any unnecessary trouble.
Now let’s make our online store has some extra functionality that surely you may need. Let’s get to it!
Cash on Delivery with Surcharge
We return with modules to add payment options to our customers. If before I told you about the module to add card payment in your online store, now we are going to add the functionality of cash on delivery with surcharge.
This module adds the option of cash on delivery in your online store, but with a commission for the choice of this payment method, being able to add a percentage to the price of the product, a fixed amount, or both options.
Of course, it may be an option you may want to consider if your shipping company charges you a commission for this payment method.
Module to add a dynamic search engine
This module is not a must-have but it is almost a must-have. It is one of those that when you install it you think “why didn’t I install it before?”.
The dynamic search engine module improves the user experience to infinity by adding a dynamic search engine in the online store. When you do your search, it will display the results as you type, with a thumbnail of the product image, name, price and a button to add to cart. It’s fantastic!
Show CMS pages in product page
This module allows you to add tabs with CMS page content to the product tab. This allows you to add useful and relevant custom information that you don’t want to add in the product description but you consider important for your customer.
To add it, you can create a CMS page and write the content you want and then go to the product page and add the CMS page you have created and you are done.
Information in the cart for free shipping
Well, let’s finish this list of modules with one that will help you to increase the minimum value of the orders placed in your store.
This module will show the customer the amount that is missing to reach the minimum amount for free shipping. In this way, you incentivize your customer to add products and make a purchase for a higher amount.
If you have the free shipping option, this module should not be missing in your list.
Conclusion
We already have the essential modules for your PrestaShop online store. As you can see, many of the modules I’m talking about are to comply with the legality of your online store.
But every online store is different and has different needs. In addition to the essential ones, I have mentioned some that will complement the functionality of your website.
