When we talk about indexing in Google, we refer to the set of actions that we must perform so that the Google search engine includes our website in the search results pages.

why is it important to index our website in Google?
The Google search engine is our most powerful advertising tool for the following 3 reasons:
- It is the most used search engine worldwide, with 3,000 million daily visits (compared to 2,700 for Bing and 2,500 for Yahoo!)
- Almost all the competition is on Google, including large companies that have been in the online sales business for years
- It offers us numerous tools for web analytics, sponsored ads and online promotion.
Now that we know why it is important to index our website in Google, the next question is how to do it.
how does Google indexing work?
To index a page in Google, the search engine uses a long list of criteria to evaluate that page. Among the main criteria are:
Backlinks
Backlinks are the main criteria for indexing a web page. A backlink is a link pointing to our website from another site, which can be a blog, a website, a social media profile, etc.
On the one hand we have the quantity of backlinks: the higher the number of backlinks, the easier it will be to index the HTML of a page. But we also have the weight or quality of the backlink, i.e. the relevance of the website that originates it. For example, a link from a well-positioned site with thousands of visitors is not the same as one from a practically unknown blog.
The set of techniques whose purpose is to get backlinks to index a web page in Google, is called linkbuilding or link building.
Content
Every day that passes, the Google search engine gives more importance to the quality of the content of a website: text, images, videos, etc.. A page with poorly written and labeled content, without images or other multimedia formats, is rated by Google as not relevant.
An important thing to note is that we need to work on indexing the HTML of our page. To do this, your HTML code must be well written and organized. This implies the use of title and subtitle tags (h1, h2, …), heading tags (title, meta, etc.), structure tags (head, body, div, article, …), etc.
The most advisable is to follow the HTML5 standard to the letter, so that Google can index the HTML of the page with a good ranking.
Keywords or keywords
Obviously, keywords are essential when it comes to indexing a page in Google.
An example of a keyword would be “best sports shoes”. This must appear in the content of a web page so that users can find it when they type it into the search engine. And by content, we mean both the visible text and the URL of the page, the metatag, the alt tags of the images, etc.
The main requirement for a keyword to be indexed in Google is its density. That is, how many times it is repeated in the text. But there must be a balance. If it appears too many times in the same article, or is repeated in an article on another topic, Google will assume that we are trying to force indexing and could penalize our site, moving it back in the search results.
